Message From The President

June 9th, 2021|

Hello Club Members, we hope you are enjoying your summer.

As many of you are likely aware the Provincial reopening roadmap has been released and they are in line with allowing us to have a normal curling season starting in October. We hope you are all as excited about this as we are!

As long as we continue to follow the Provincial guidelines, get our vaccinations as soon as possible, take care of ourselves and others over the next few months we will once again be on the ice without restrictions. Sounds wonderful!
Many of you are aware that our club is being used as a vaccination centre, we anticipate that this will be concluded in time for us to begin on time however it is not yet confirmed.

We have a couple of other things of interest.

First we have had a preliminary review of the finances and are happy to report that even though we closed early we were able to come in with just a small deficit. Special thanks to those that donated their 2019/2020 fees to the club this helped tremendously. Andrew and the Executive have also been putting in extra efforts to ensure we captured every available grant and every reduction in costs. We are in good shape to start the new season and look forward to seeing everyone back. Guy will have a full report for the AGM, see you there.

We have also begun talking to the City about taking on the food and beverage service at the Sports Centre. This is very preliminary and would not likely be something that could come to fruition this season. We do need some help with this project should it start to gain momentum. We need people with commercial food services experience to form an advisory committee to the Executive. If you have experience in Food Services, Food Service Management or any experience you believe could help us in developing a proposal and strategy to the City we want to hear from you. Please let Andrew know of your experience and availability, we look forward to hearing from you.

Stay tuned, watch for updates and news on our web page and join us on face book to stay up to date on all the new and improved things coming this season.

On behalf of the MICC Executive,

Kevin Ihlen
President
